Here are answers to the most common questions about baby castings, if there is anything else you’d like to know please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

What areas do you cover?

I my new studio in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire – so easy travel from the surrounding villages, including Eggington, Heath & Reach, Eaton Bray, Stanbridge, Tebworth, Wing, Totternhoe and Hockliffe.

What happens during a casting session?

Your baby will sit on your lap or your arms so they feel safe and relaxed. I will mix up the moulding medium ready and then we’ll quickly put your babies hand or foot in the container. The mix sets in approximately one minute. Once it sets we’ll wiggle your babies hand or foot gently and it will come free easily. I usually take two moulds of each hand or foot to ensure at least one good cast.

How long does the appointment take?

Please allow an hour for the session although we may finish sooner or take slightly longer if your baby is lively.

What happens if my baby wriggles?

The moulding medium is fairly forgiving, however on occasion moulds do not make good casts. To help combat this, I take two moulds to try and ensure you get a good result. If neither of these moulds provide a cast I will arrange another appointment free of charge to retake the mould.

Is the mould compound safe for my baby?

The moulding medium is non-toxic and non-allergenic seaweed based product and  completely safe for babies skin.

How should I prepare for a session?

It’s best to feed before the session so your baby is relaxed, in fact some babies are happy to sleep through the whole session. Please dress your baby in something that provides easy access to their limbs, for example a vest. Avoid any tight clothing which will leave elastic marks otherwise the casts will include this detail. The moulding medium will peel off clothing but it’s best not to wear best outfits.

How do I book a casting?

Please contact me via my Facebook page or email to arrange a convenient appointment.

How old does my child have to be?

There is no minimum or maximum age for casting. My baby casting prices are for children under 12 months –  if you have an older baby/toddler just ask for a quote.

When will I get my finished casts?

Please allow 8 weeks for delivery this includes drying time, finishing casts and framing. If you require your cast in a shorter time span please ask and it may be possible to reduce this slightly, however some stages can’t be rushed in order to produce a good final result.

What payment methods do you accept?

I accept payments in cash, bank transfers and Paypal are accepted. Full payment is required at the time of the session.

Cancellations

If you are unable to keep the appointment please let me know asap, I’ll be happy to reschedule. If your child is under the weather or having a bad day, please don’t hesitate to change the booking. I have a little one of my own so I’ll completely understand.

Your casting is a bespoke product so I can’t accept cancellations or returns after the moulding has been taken, although I will always work with you as much as practical to make sure you are happy with the result.
